Review possible unauthorized 3D print sales
Seeing a familiar object in a marketplace listing can be worrying. A careful review helps you distinguish a visual resemblance, an authorized sale and a situation that requires further attention.
Confirm what the listing actually shows
Compare the listing with reference images of the relevant design version. Look at proportions, joints, surface features and construction details. A category name, similar color or common silhouette is not enough on its own.
Read the listing description and consider whether it advertises a physical print, a digital file or a different product. Check all available views. If images are too small or hide the distinctive features, record that uncertainty instead of making a definite identification.
Check permission before calling a sale unauthorized
Look up the seller in your own commercial license records. Public shop names and account names can differ, and an older agreement may still be relevant. Check the design scope and the dates involved.
A candidate surfaced by STL Parrot has been through human review, but the creator supplies the authorization decision. That division matters: similarity is a discovery signal, while permission depends on relationships and records that an image cannot establish.
Keep a clear record of the review
Save the public listing URL, shop URL, observed date and the details that led you to compare it. Keep a copy of the relevant reference and permission record. Listing content can change, so make clear which observation your note describes.
If the concern remains, review the marketplace’s current reporting process and the evidence it asks for. Choose your next step based on the facts and the rules that apply to your situation. STL Parrot does not submit claims or remove listings automatically, and no review outcome guarantees a marketplace response.
- Identify the model with several distinctive features.
- Check whether the seller has permission.
- Document uncertainty and the context of your observation.
Questions about this topic
Will STL Parrot report the seller for me?
No. STL Parrot does not automatically send claims or remove listings. You review the context and decide whether further action is appropriate.
What if I cannot tell whether it is my model?
Keep the candidate uncertain. Additional views or clarification may be needed; an incomplete comparison is not proof of unauthorized use.
